| 8 Oct 2008 - 4:30 pm GMT - (6:30 local time) Good news! Luggage arrived. Spent day resting and sightseeing (Ngoro Falls) and had a great day. Set off on the Lemosho Route 8 am tomorrow (October 9th) local time. |

11 Oct 2008 - 9:00 am GMT - (11:00 am local time) TEAM UPDATE!
DAY 3: Shira Camp to Shira Huts - 3850 m (see below). Frost this morning. Both doing fine at this altitude. Both enjoying trek + we get fed loads! Signal (mobile) is rare. Love to all. |

DAY 4:

3 degrees C at dawn. Shira Huts to Barafu via Lava tower 4600m, then camp at 3950m. Both fine! |
13 Oct 2008 - 5:00 am GMT - (7:00 am local time)
DAY 5: Lava Tower was cold and wet. Today we walk on the Barranco Wall and then walk to Karanga Valley Camp. It's -5C. We are eating, drinking and sleeping well. N+E.
- Made Barranco Wall by 11 am. 1,000 ft. vertical climb. All is well. Neil + Eliz.
- Arrived at Karanga Camp at 12:30 pm, both in good spirits. It's 2 degrees C, misty and windy. |
14 Oct 2008 - 7:32 am GMT - (9:32 am local time)
DAY 6: Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp (Barafu Huts) (4600m) then @ midnight to the summit (5895m). Weather is warm and a bit windy. Both are fine. Should be at Barafu at 2 pm today. Love 2 all.
- 2:30 pm GMT (4 pm local) update: Arrived at Barafu Huts at Midday, had lunch and hiked to 5000m to get a feel for the route. Now resting for final 7 hour trek to summit, Love 2 all.

15 Oct 2008 - 4:00 am GMT - (6:00 am local time)
DAY 7: AT THE SUMMIT!! Arrived at summit - 5895m in time for sunrise, 6 am. 7 hour trek from Barafu Camp. Wind chill -14C, windy, about 25/30 mph. Both sounded very happy (this updated provided by a telephone call from the summit!). Neil will try to upload photographs on Thursday and they'll be on the site as soon as I get them. Congratulations to you both!
TEXT UPDATES:
- Started 7km trek at midnight and climbed 1.4 km in elevation change. Last 2 hours were brutal, steep lava dust at -25C, we both made Uhuru peak at 6 am.
- Both are overwhelmed by the achievement. We will send photos tomorrow. Both are knackered, but well. |

DAY 8: From Barafu Camp to Mweka. After the main descent, from Barafu Camp, we had 2 hours rest, then walked 8km to Mweka Camp at 3100m. It's a lovely camp in the forest. Both tired, but doing fine.

DAY 8: Mweka Camp - Moshi. Awoke at 6 am then walked 7 km to Mweka Gate Camp at 2100m. We said our goodbyes to the team and Gabriel presented our certificates. All good. N+E.
